Plasma diagnostic tools

Context and objective

Over the last 17 years, the CNRS network on low temperature plasmas (RPF in French) has been conducting an investment policy to equip the plasma community with various tools for plasma investigations. Although these tools are extremely useful for many plasma studies, they are not necessarily of daily use, and the RPF policy aims at sharing such facilities.

8 diagnostic tools, 2 plasma platforms and one database of electron and ion scattering cross sections are now available and can be used by anyone in the network.

Therefore, the goal of this workshop is to present these tools and facilities and address the following for each of these tools: what can be done with it? How does it work? Is there anybody to help with this tool?

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Master basic concepts and theory related to each tool.
  • Know practical aspects and implementation: technical characteristics, possibilities and limits, pitfalls, tips and tricks.
  • Use the tools within their own research topic.
  • Identify the expertise related to each tools in the plasma community.

Organisation - Planning

This workshop is supported by the CNRS through its MITI and SFIP departments.  It is organized at Institut Jean Lamour, a common unit from CNRS and Université de Lorraine, with support of the CNRS DR6 regional representation and of the French network on low temperature plasmas (RPF).

The workshop will run over 2.5 days with theoretical and practical aspects. See programme tab.

The workshop is intended to PhD students, engineers, technicians, and researchers.
